October Recap: The children have been working on exploring their feelings and emotions this month. It has been great to see them learning how to express their emotions appropriately. I have seen feelings charts being posted up in the classrooms to help the children identify what type of mood they are in for the day. It really helps a child when they can voice what they are feeling.
Our curriculum for October has been filled with a variety of topics. In honor of the Halloween holiday the children have explored nocturnal animals, the skeleton, and pumpkins.
A letter was sent out to all parents and families regarding the upcoming events to look forward to. This month we have sent out see’s candies fundraising forms. The fundraiser will begin Oct. 23rd. We will be raising money for a new sandbox for our playground. The classroom that raises the most money will receive a pizza party!
We will also have a scholastic book fair coming to our school on Oct. 30-Nov. 9. An ice cream party will be given to the classroom that purchases the most items!
Halloween art has been posted up on the walls of the school and our cooking classes have been creative in incorporating the holiday in their recipes.
September Recap: The school has implemented a new curriculum for the school year. Check out the bulletin boards in each classroom to see what your child will be doing during the month. You will find many Montessori works that have been added into the curriculum for all our classrooms including the infants. We have also started our new snack host program and have integrated it into our practical life areas. Thank you parents for your patience and involvement in this new program.
Extra projects or special events: It was wonderful to see many of you parents and families out for back to school night. We had a great turn out and several of you had some great questions about your child’s classroom. I would like to thank our friends from New York Life for coming out and joining us for the event. If you did not get a chance to have a child ID card made from New York Life don’t worry, we have asked them to come back for future events!
The children look forward to the afternoon enrichments. Our teachers have really taken off with teaching these classes and I know that the office is really enjoying the cooking class as we seem to be the tasters of all their delicious creations.
Our new website is finally up. We’ve worked hard to get a beautiful new site ready and we’re proud to show it off. Thanks for reading our blog. We have lots of great blog posts in the works. Please check back or contact us now to find out how we can help you.
